Here we have an incredible opportunity to own an extremely unique and well preserved Studebaker. This is a 1962 Gran Turismo model which is a pretty uncommon sight in of itself these days but to add to it’s charm, this particular example underwent a very tasteful and sympathetic resto-mod back in the mid 1980’s in California. Taking much care in sticking to it’s roots, a very large majority of the parts used in it’s modification are and were genuine Studebaker. At a quick glance you’ll see the shorter and lower rear 1/4 panels. Those are from a 1953 ‘Loewy’ designed Studebaker coupe. The trunk lid is from a 64 as is some of the various trim. Shortened, the car is now a two seater. You’d swear this was a factory production car or prototype!
Mechanically the car is still mostly correct 1964. Equipped with it’s original Studebaker 289 V8. This one is mated to a three speed manual, floor shifted transmission with overdrive. Factory air conditioning that functions but needs a shot of refrigerant to blow cold. Safe to assume there is a slow leak somewhere as the system is currently blowing warm air. The only other feature that is troubled is the factory tachometer. That is inoperable currently. Everything else about this car is completely trouble free and reliable. Very turn key, this car has been driven regularly by it’s careful owner who is a knowledgeable, astute Studebaker collector.
Exterior cosmetics are all excellent showing little to no wear. Paint gleams and the chrome and stainless are flaw free. The leather interior and it’s surroundings are all immaculate. A super comfortable and easy car to drive.
National first place award winner. You will be hard pressed to find one nicer or as unique. You will turn heads everywhere you go and will have Studebaker purists scratching their heads trying to determine it’s origin. This is a great opportunity to own a ONE OF A KIND classic. One that will appreciate and give years of good service.
