Candy Apple Red 1967 Plymouth Barracuda 340 CID 3 Speed Automatic

Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is thrilled to offer this sharp 1967 Plymouth Barracuda for sale on consignment with our showroom in Phoenix, Arizona.

The Barracuda was an unfortunate victim of the popularity that Ford’s Mustang enjoyed- it was released 16 days earlier than the Pony Car but ended up being overlooked as a viable alternative. Today, both cars remain popular classics for different reasons; the Mustang enjoys a broad appeal while classic Barracudas are coveted due to their rarity.

The large, wraparound rear window that dominated the rear end of this Plymouth in previous model years was now smaller and more streamlined. The Barracuda, based on Chrysler’s A-Body platform, offers a nice package as a fastback with 7 feet of cargo space and room for seating 5.

This example has extra curb appeal thanks to an expensive Candy Apple Red paint color that is vibrant and hard to take your eyes off. American Racing 15″ wheels with BF Goodrich radials complete the curb appeal of this ’67 ‘Cuda. This Plymouth came with the 273 CID engine in 1967 according to the fender tag, which is still legible, but now features a later Mopar motor- the 340 CID V8. Upgrades include a 4bbl carburetor, aluminum intake manifold, MSD electronic ignition and an aluminum radiator. A 3-speed automatic transmission shifts this Plymouth through the gears. You’ll hear it coming too thanks to the aftermarket Flowmaster exhaust system with dual exiting pipes!

Hop inside and this Barracuda shows just as nicely as the rest of the car- vinyl covered Burgundy front bucket seats look awesome and the stock center console is still in place. Factory style gauges remain but there have been some additional readings for tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature and voltage added as well as a Grant GT steering wheel. The AM radio remains in its spot on the dash, along with vent controls which gives real authenticity to this classic Chrysler product.

This 1967 Plymouth Barracuda would be a great way to get into the classic car world for someone looking to stand out in the crowd of Mustangs and Camaros. Give yourself a story to tell at the car show!
