Only 624 L-89 Corvettes were made in 1968! This one has matching #s and codes throughout. Body off frame restored 10 years ago. It has the NCRS shipping report, it sold new at Yerkey and Son. I checked auction results, these cars start at $100,000 and a few have sold over $200,000!
EXTERIOR: No damage or cracks, it has the raised 427 hood. Of course, the T-tops come off and the rear window pops out. Original Lemans Blue car, the paint is really sharp on this car. It’s laid out evenly and the clear coat is glossy. The original chrome was replated. It has correct antenna and optional luggage rack. Weatherstrips and seals were replaced. We replaced the headlight actuators and relay. Correct 15×7 rally wheels with reproduction redline tires. Original windshield has a 1968 sticker.
INTERIOR: Overall good original condition. Correct 6,500 redline tachometer, original dated Am-Fm radio, correct chrome shifter. New horn contact. The wiring harness was replaced. Professionally restored seat belts. The carpet front to back is excellent. Upholstery is good, cushions are worn. Interior lights work. It has the T-top bags behind the seats. It has power windows.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rare high performance 427-435 hp with tri-power carbs and factory aluminum heads. The dates and casting codes are correct, high performance is cast on the block. The numbers stamped on the pad match the car. Correct parts throughout- valve covers, air cleaner, manifolds, carbs, deep grove pulleys etc. Correct cooling system, reproduction hoses, dated expansion tank, clutch fan. It has ignition shielding. Work we had done under the hood: Rebuilt the carbs. New spark plugs and fuel pump. New wiper motor, switch, vacuum door actuator, adjusting nut, solenoid, and vent retainers. Replaced the headlight door relay. Features include power steering and brakes, transistor ignition.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame during restoration. The suspension and steering were completely rebuilt. Upgraded Bilstein gas shocks. Correct style dual exhaust with chrome tips going through the valance. Disc brakes at all 4 wheels, e-brake is hooked up. Bottom of the motor looks clean. Correct vin # matching Muncie 4-speed. New reverse light switch. Original 3.70 posi rear end with proper codes and date. Fiberglass floors look good, it has the spare tire carrier.
It’s an older body off frame restoration. Our shop just spent $5,088 servicing this car. It has a picture board documenting the restoration and authenticity of the car. It is one of the most desirable 1968 Corvettes!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle. Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car’s condition in detail. **These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car, make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded, and you will be given a 1 year membership.
